“Zhang Zhehan’s ‘Scavenger’ Lands in Hong Kong — Wolves, Sand, and Shirt-Ripping All at Once”
☕️ Hey, did you hear? Zhang Zhehan once again pushed himself to the point of shedding skin during his concert.
It wasn’t because the stage lights were too hot, or because he danced too hard — he went all out before the concert even began, during the filming of the VCR. To bring the concept of the “Scavenger” concert to life, he personally flew to shoot in the desert. He threw himself into the sand over a dozen times, got his boots filled with sand, his face covered in dust, coughing while pouring sand out of his clothes — and still laughed, saying: “Feels like I’m back on a film set.”
This wasn’t just singing — it was like filming a grueling physical reality show.
The “Scavenger”-themed concert debuted in Hong Kong, featuring a sci-fi drifting-through-space vibe. A 50-meter extended stage jutted straight into the audience. The VCR opened with a spaceship crash. Lying at the center of the stage in a patchwork wasteland-style robe, Zhang began with the words: “Can you hear me?” — as if asking everyone in the arena, “Can you receive my signal?”
In the next segment, he appeared in a 3D-printed crystalline outfit — as soon as the lights hit, the entire venue felt like it had entered an alien world.
Then, with a dramatic turn, he reappeared in a purple-silver robe and sunglasses, setting the stage on fire with “Datura.”
Midway through the song, he suddenly ripped off the robe, revealing a mesh tank top and armored chain accessories, instantly igniting a wave of screams across the crowd.
In the last part of the show, the atmosphere softened. Wearing a pink suit, he walked down the extended stage to perform “Lost Glacier” and “Moonlight.”
The wind lifted the flowing ribbons around him as he stood amidst a sea of lights, like a traveler who had just returned from an alien world, quietly keeping the audience company as they watched a moon rise together.
The visuals of the show weren’t just flashy for the sake of being flashy — every detail was intentional.
Zhang Zhehan even personally revised the script for the VCR segment featuring the wolf’s head. Originally, it was designed to remain static, but he suggested: “What if the wolf opened its mouth at the end and bared its fangs, like it was about to devour me?”
The production team was startled at first, but after several rehearsals, they embraced the idea — and in the live show, that animatronic wolf head moment truly became a showstopping surprise.
A Concert on the Eve of His Birthday
The show happened to take place on the day before Zhang Zhehan’s birthday. When the birthday cake was brought on stage and the entire crowd of “Haizhe” (his fanbase nickname) sang the birthday song, he made a wish and shared:
“I still remember this day in 2023 — I was in Thailand holding my first concert, and spent an unforgettable birthday with all of you.”
Two years have passed, but Zhang Zhehan still remembers it like it was yesterday!
Three Years, Three Albums
From “Deep Blue” to “Mandala”, and now “Scavenger”, Zhang Zhehan has carved out a musical path that neither repeats himself nor imitates others.
Exploring a range of vocal styles, his journey has evolved from narrative-driven music to electronic rock. Looking ahead, he says:
“I hope my music can continue to come from the heart — and reach even farther.”
Not every singer would turn a concert into a test of physical limits — but Zhang Zhehan is just that intense, and that genuine.
He doesn’t promise extravagance, but what he does promise is that every moment you hear and see was something he personally put together with his own hands.
See You at the Next Stop — Are You Ready?
Now that his trilogy is complete, will his universe take a breather? Not a chance — he’s already preparing for the next destination.
Where will he fly to next? Hmm… Zhang Zhehan hasn’t said yet.
But one thing we both know for sure: the tickets will definitely sell out again.
